Turkey and Quail

We raise game birds for meat... the good old heritage breeds (not the monster fast growing and quick dying kind). Interested in live birds or meat?

Eggs

Fresh Eggs

Our turkeys lay a few times a year and quail are laying through the year and we generally get four to five eggs a day.

Breeds

Bronze Turkey

It gets its name from the bronze finish to its plumage, and it is prized for its meat production.

The Bronze Turkey can grow to 4 feet tall and have a 6-foot wingspan. The Standard Bronze Turkey is considered a heritage breed and these, in turn, are very well domesticated. They can be friendly with humans and may even follow keepers around, like a pet dog. With that said, the species can be protective of its young, and overall temperament is often governed by the breeder and the amount of socialization the birds have undergone when young.

The Bronze Turkey is too large and heavy to be able to fly and struggles to jump. It can run quickly, however, and does require plenty of space to roam around. It is a robust and generally healthy breed that does not usually suffer too many illnesses.

Bobwhite Quail

Its whistled bob-white! call is a familiar sound in spring in farmland and brushy pastures. The birds are heard more often than seen; although not especially shy, they often keep within dense low cover. During fall and winter, bobwhites live in coveys, averaging about a dozen birds. At night they roost on the ground in circles, tails pointed inward, heads pointed out.

More of the game birds on our farm through the years...
